POST TITLE : Project Manager for Sports Complex / Bainisteoir Tionscadail na Spórtlainne
GRADE : Senior Executive Officer
RESPONSIBLE TO : Principal
LOCATION : Coláiste Feirste, Teach Ard na bhFeá, BELFAST, BT12 7PY Is iar-bhunscoil lánGhaeilge í Coláiste Feirste. Is í an Ghaeilge teanga na scoile. Coláiste Feirste is an Irish Medium post primary school. Irish is the working language in all aspects of the school.
Owned by Coláiste Feirste, Spórtlann na hÉireann is the collective name for a 6 acre site that includes a new sports centre; a full size GAA pitch; practice pitch; multi-games pitches; car and coach parking, ïŹoodlighting and a three storey championship standard handball court. Future development on the site include a centre of excellence for hurling, training spaces, kinetic wall; kinesiology and physiotherapy clinic, and a rooftop archive and gallery – Spás Dín, which will chart the creative work of Irish speakers living in Belfast and become both a location for academic reference and an attraction drawing people and their spending power to the Gaeltacht Quarter.
Spórtlann na hÉireann is a school, neighbourhood and city asset with an ‘access for all’ vision to be a large-scale, highly-regarded creative lifestyle hub. This is a very broad objective and the specific focus is to:
(a) use the unique characteristics of the Irish Language in a sporting and learning context to promote a deeper sense of sporting purpose, wellness and emotional health for pupils, facility users and visitors.
(b) be a developing resource for the largest Irish speaking urban population in Ireland where the ability to learn and use the Irish language in a sporting/fitness environment is actively showcased and promoted.
(c) create a revenue stream for the school.
